A chance at survival
Led by American pediatrician Dr. Stephen Swanson, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre historically offered among the highest level of care available in Tanzania, with survival rates rarely seen in East Africa. Today, we are focused on teaching as many hospitals as possible the lessons of the past decade, offering neonatology training to >200 NICU nurses and doctors from 18 African countries in 2024!
New partnerships are being developed to advance innovative, low-technology, evidence-based solutions in support neonatology care in Africa— a model of care developed by our team. Kangaroo Mother Care
